My Story

Overcoming Adversity.

A Long Time Ago, in a Society Far, Far Away. . .

I’ve been a Christian ever since I can remember. As a child, I wanted to “marry Jesus”. My Mother used to be VERY IRRITATED since she kept saying we weren’t Catholic but Lutheran. My favorite music, as.a child, was Christian music. I remember playing a phonograph of Catholic nuns singing ‘modern’ Christian songs so often that I wore out the record.

I remember my Grandmother playing hymns on out piano which still remind me of her gifts of playing ‘by ear’.

Now, I’ve completed much of my life’s journey. During my odyssey, I’ve worked at various levels of education. My adventure has been filled with positive and extremely evil encounters.

God has used all my education and experience to create this story. This narrative leads the reader through the truth of the Gospel, the Beatitudes, parables, and the biographies of Biblical characters. Most importantly, this story shows the only cure for the contamination of sin.

I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those. . . who have not met me personally. My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may havve the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how disciplined you are and how firm your faith in Christ is. Colossians 2: 1-5

A Great Adventure Took Place. Background of Sanctuary’s Author

When I grew up, the society was comparatively similar and astonishingly different. I was naive, simple, and unsophisticated. I’ve grown through experiences with evil to become “tried through fire”. My faith in Jesus Christ is still intact and unbroken despite horrendous experiences with evil.

What I couldn’t see as a child was that God would use all the events of my life for good (And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans. Romans 8: 28 TLB). When I was a child, computers were stored in cold buildings to keep the mainframes cold enough to function. Smaller, restricted desktops with limited functions were primarily used for businesses or spreadsheet and word processing machines. The series ‘Star Trek’ had communicators which seemed like fantasy. Now, seemingly everyone has more capacity in their phone than was available to the most complex and expensive computer.

Similarly, at the start of my journey, I was from planning to be an elementary teacher. I have taught reading and language arts which showed me how to develop the story. I have taught and studied educational unit and lesson planning. This experience has shown me how to analyze the narrative. I will be developing a ‘Member’s Only’ section. Subscribers will be able to analyze the Biblical foundations of the characters’ biographies, the Christian foundational doctrines, the Beatitudes and parables, etc. I want to have this section become accredited through a Christian college. And finally, my Master of Science in Educational Technology has shown me how to develop this website.

Education

I would have now been classified as ‘learning disabled’ if I were born now. When God ‘planted me’, society didn’t know about ‘dyslexia’. I knew that I saw my reading assignments differently, and mathematics was complicated. When I was in my final college classes, I discovered about children who had these challenges. Everything I read reminded me of my struggles. I graduated from Pennsylvania State University, and expected a wonderful lifetime helping children learn and become better citizens. Little did I know that God had other plans for me.  People may make plans in their minds, but only the Lord can make them come true.” (Proverbs 16: 1 NCV)

Experience

I expected a lifetime of teaching elementary students the ‘finer’ aspects of colors, numbers, and simple mathematics. I could easily do simple math with fractions and even binomials. So I believed that I was prepared for a lifetime of my students’ educational achievement. Yet, that was the one group of people that I haven’t taught. I’ve helped many juveniles, young adults, and men and women. Although I planned to teach reading, simple mathematics, language arts, rhymes, and games. The audiences I taught included soldiers, juveniles, college students, community college students, and prisoners. I learned more about my subjects by teaching than I learned in any classes as a student.
